Bio


William Perkins, MD, FAAP, is a highly experienced, triple board-certified pediatric specialist in pediatric medicine, pediatric critical care, and pediatric pulmonology at South Counties Pediatric Critical Care Medical Group, with offices in Fountain Valley, West Covina, and Long Beach, California.

With over 40 years of experience, he has dedicated his career to providing advanced, compassionate care to children and their families in both community and academic hospital settings.

Dr. Perkins completed his pediatric internship and residency at the University of Kansas Department of Pediatrics. He went on to complete a dual fellowship in pediatric pulmonary and pediatric critical care medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans. In addition, he completed a one-year pediatric endocrine fellowship, further expanding his expertise in complex pediatric conditions.

Dr. Perkins has held academic faculty appointments at both the University of Kansas and the University of Tennessee, where he contributed to medical education and pediatric training. Currently, he serves as Director of Pediatric Hospitalist Services at St. Francis Medical Center, where he oversees inpatient pediatric care and works closely with critical care teams to manage complex cases.

He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (FAAP) and is recognized for his lifelong commitment to excellence in pediatric medicine, leadership in hospital care, and mentorship of young physicians. Dr. Perkins is known for his calm, reassuring presence and deep clinical knowledge, especially in respiratory and intensive care medicine.
